This is the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office with an emergency message. Dangerous flooding is occurring in the area of Buckhorn Canyon – CR44H & CR27. Immediately reach higher ground by any means necessary. Avoid area subject to flooding including dips, low spots, ditches, etc. and do not attempt to cross flowing streams or creeks. If driving, be aware that the road may not be intact under flood waters. Never drive through flooded roadways – turn around and go another way. If your vehicle stalls, leave it immediately and seek higher ground.

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Flash Flood Warning for East Central Larimer County in north central Colorado until 615 PM MDT. Excessive rainfall over the Cameron Peak burn scar may result in debris flows moving through the Buckhorn Creek drainage. Debris flows can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include southeastern portions of the Cameron Peak burn scar. This includes the following additional locations: Moondance Way, Stringtown Gulch, Big Bear and Lower Buckhorn on County Road 27 above Masonville.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar may result in debris flows moving through the Buckhorn Creek Drainage in and near the Cameron Peak burn scar. Debris flows can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include the Southeast portions of the Cameron Peak burn scar. Rustic and Red Feather Lakes. This includes the following additional locations… Lower Pingree Park Road, Gulches along Highway 14 near and above Rustic, Rising water and large debris in the Poudre River, Pingree
Hill, Goodell Corner, Bellaire Lake and Crown Point Road.

This includes the following streams and drainages…
Peterson Creek, Lone Pine Creek, Cache La Poudre River, Elkhorn
Creek, South Lone Pine Creek, Manhattan Creek, South Fork Cache La
Poudre River, Killpecker Creek, Dry Creek, Little Beaver Creek and
